Bleh.
December 10th, 2003
Today just kind of dribbled off into the ether without me noticing.
K came by this afternoon to pick up his Psychology textbook. He had left it at my house on the weekend during the party and I was pretty sure his exam was coming up very soon (actually it is Thursday at 6pm!). He told me he'd be by after lunch, but he actually came by just before I was about to leave because he completely forgot he was supposed to pick it up. It was only when he was sitting at his computer and decided to go over his notes that he remembered. Hee. Oh how I remember those days.
Someone please remind me to never again carry milk in my little thermos to work. I can quite nicely buy milk from the cafeteria and I do not need to bring my own. Because, no matter how well I try to clean out the damned thing, it still will smell like soured milk. The thermos is stainless steel, so it isn't that the liner has absorbed the smell, but the thermos only holds about 16 oz. and so it is tall and skinny and impossible to reach inside. I have tried soap, water, shaking it, baking soda, vinegar, a washcloth stuck onto a wooden spoon. I think I have finally cleaned it after about 15 washings. I can't smell the sour milk smell any more at least.
I will descend into rampant commercialism for a moment and say that I am totally in love with my new bag. I wanted a little bag, that wasn't purse-like that could hold my wallet, keys, a paperback book, and a couple little odds and ends. I think I have found my holy grail of requirements in this particular item. It is light, easily swings around when you are on the bus to under your arm so you can sit, the zippers are easily accessible, it has a zippered interior pocket, a PDA slot, a keyclip, it is not too big, I love it. The aformentioned thermos fits into the pocket on the side and the webbing holds it in place, or you can collapse the holder flat against the bag.
This evening was pretty much a writeoff. I had good intentions to do marking, but after supper I felt really ill so I just had to lie down until it passed. Then it was late, so I did a couple assignments, but I really had to go to bed.
Currently Reading:
- Dawnthief by James Barclay. (I just realised I've had the title wrong for ages).
- Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling.
Books I have Read Lately:
- The Thief's Gamble by Juliet E. McKenna. I finally finished this. Reading this book was somewhat torturous but in a good way. Juliet has style...the book was very entertaining, the characters feel very real and the story just pulls you along. Livak was really an interesting character and I liked how her parts were in first person and then the other events were interleaved in third person. I would have loved to read this book in a giant gulp but I have been so busy that I had to nibble away at it in little chunks and that drove me crazy. There are several more books in the series that I will be sure to order.
(All links go through Amazon.ca because of the affiliate program with The Usual Suspects. I spend so much time on there, that this is the least I can do.)
