I took Victoria swimming at the Wellness Centre today with her friends Bella and Mitchell. Mitchell had been 3 times before, but it was the first time for Bella and Vix. Overall, I think it was a success. The nursery swim is only a loonie, and it is in the therapy pool, so a shallower, warmer pool than the main pool. It was a lot of fun. I dunked Victoria under the water twice and she didn’t seem phased at all by it, so I have hopes of her being a little waterbaby in the future. I know Chris is really looking forward to doing swimming lessons with her.
Just as we were leaving, the skies opened up and I got soaked to the skin running to the car. I had tossed a blanket over Victoria so she was ok, but I got the brunt of it trying to get her in the car seat. I think the exercise was good for her, as she had a proper nap, the first one in ages. It was so nice to be able to just sit down and drink tea and read my book and have a little break. The rain was violently lashing the windows so I felt nice and cosy in my new chair with a blanket, tea and my book!
After V woke up I walked with her over to Mum’s house. I have been helping Mum move in the past week. After giving up on selling her house, she got an offer and within 2 weeks had sold it and bought one here. It’s just around the corner so I can walk to it. It needs a fair amount of cosmetic work, but I have hopes that it will be better for her, certainly it will be closer to Victoria, and also to visit Weener in Toronto and Kevin and Christine and the boys in Chesley.
Anyhow, I have been moving furniture and boxes and doing all the things Mum can’t manage. Tomorrow I need to go back and plant some hostas for her, install brackets in the closet, and put up a new shower curtain rod. It’s all coming together slowly. I think the next big project is to get someone to redo the bathroom upstairs and paint the main floor. I have half finished her bedroom, but I need to get back to that and finish it!
On Friday I went on a pub crawl/tour of shenanigans and scoundrels in Peterborough. It was a fundraiser for the Trent Valley Archives. I had a Murphy’s Irish Stout and it was so good. Must make it back again to the Tankhouse for another.
Hector came over for supper as he and Chris have class tonight. I made pad thai and an apple crumble pie for dessert. Pretty darn good if I do say so myself. I need to get back on the wagon though with regards to diet. V’s eczema is flaring up again so bye bye dairy and wheat.
My brain has gone to mush and I can’t remember what else I wanted to record so I will leave this at that. My back is killing me so I am going to find a more comfortable chair and relax.
