Time seems to just go by in a blink as a collective grouping of moments, but particular individual moments just creep by. It’s really strange. I can’t believe term is starting in just a few weeks.
Over the weekend we went into the Big Smoke to help friends move to their first house. It was a lot of fun, although I apparently can’t count, and so missed the number of stairs off the basement landing by one, spraining my ankle quite convincingly. Chris and I took back roads home and overall it was a nice outing.
I rode in to work yesterday with my ankle all strapped up, but I wimped out and got a ride home because we had one of the biggest thunderstorms I can remember in the past couple of years. Our street was a river, it hailed, lots of wind and lightning. A bit crazy and as I have gotten soaked three times in the past three weeks, I figured I deserve a break.
Today was much less uneventful, although it was chilly this morning (10C) and blustery on the way home, but a nice ride still.
I am just back from the optometrist, as I picked up my new glasses. I then decided I would take photos of all of my old glasses that I can find in the house to amuse myself, which turned out to span the last decade. I picked some doozies in the past 10 years, let me tell you!
The new glasses are kind of eh. I was torn between a red pair and these ones, and decided to go for these ones as the red ones were the almost exact lens shape as my black and white ones. I thought they looked cuter in the store, but maybe they will grow on me. At the very least I have the almost unimaginable luxury of two current pairs to choose from each morning, depending on my mood. I don’t know what mood these ones evoke, but I guess I will find out. I am not a huge fan of the little dorky things on the temple, but as I generally am not looking at that part of the glasses, I guess I will get used to it. I do like the colour, they are a sky blue shading to a titanium/bronze colour on the front.
I splurged and got a higher index lens than my last pair (1.74?), and the lens opening is smaller than all my other pairs and the lenses are the thickest of them all! Really boggling. He could only get my right eye to 20/25 which is frustrating to me when I get tired as my dominant left eye gets tired of picking up the slack.

In other news have been reading up a storm. I love my front room library so much. I love sitting in my reading chair and looking at all my books, all that potential caged on the shelves waiting for me to select. Recent books I have read and enjoyed are the Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson trilogy (Moon Called, Blood Bound, Iron Kissed), Inda, and The Fox by Sherwood Smith, and I am just finishing Bitten by Kelly Armstrong. On a werewolf/vampire jag, it seems…
