Kate

I spent a good chunk of today trying to find metric ruled vellum sheets – a rush priority as the ones that were sent to us that arrived today are imperial and no good at all. Time crunch as well because they have to fly down to Belize in someone’s luggage in about 5 days. But I think we have found something that will work.

It was supposed to thunderstorm today, it certainly is humid enough for it, but nothing yet. My headache can go any time now, please.

Last night I had one of the worst nights of sleep I have had in a long time. That nap yesterday meant I could not fall asleep for the life of me. I had songs running through my head, and in desperation I played the Alphabet Game using fruits, vegetables, colours, names, book characters, and song titles. I must have dropped off at some point because I was rudely awakened by coyotes yipping and barking outside the window. Of course it was quarter after midnight at this point. I lay in bed for quite a while, trying to decide if I wanted to get up and read for a bit. The problem is, I am likely to stay up to finish a book in one sitting (even a re-read!) and I didn’t think that starting the week with a sleep deficit would be productive. I decided to get up anyhow but managed to knock both my book and glasses off my nightstand, so I gave up.

Rollie decided to sneak onto the bed and furtively curled up beside my shoulder. Of course, then I was boiling hot, so I got up to turn on a fan, and I must have fallen asleep after that only to have some very vivid dreams involving a childhood cat, the garage of my parents’ house, and speakers that would not turn off (which turned out to be the alarm blaring). Bah.
