In search of buried treasure.

May 31st 2007

Freckles!

It must be summer, my freckles are coming back.

I am searching for buried treasure today. I love my expanded job. I am currently working on cataloguing all the collections and equipment that the department owns. In some cases I don’t think it’s been updated in about 25 years. I have a few hand written registers and a couple of typewritten sheets and the game’s afoot. I’m on the hunt. Love it.

It’s going to be stinking hot today. It’s convocation at the university…it boggles my mind that convocation stretches over three days now, with two ceremonies a day. When I graduated back in 2000, there was one day, with two short ceremonies. Yesterday wasn’t so bad, although I have gotten used to it being very quiet at the uni and now there are voices and people everywhere. The whole place is humming with activity.

I went out to the field again on Tuesday. I finally know how to use the TotalStation properly. It makes a difference to be shown how to use it instead of mucking about on one’s own. We set out benchmarks at the site and now I can just use a freestation setup, it’s so wicked. You just set up the TS and shoot to 2-4 known points and then it calculates where it is set up and you are good to go! So awesome. Have I said before, I love my job? I get to poke around in books and go out in the field as well as teach.

Ok, back to the books.
