A new year.
January 1st 2005
Well, here’s a brand new year. Hey there, I missed you. I never do well at this Holidailies thing – I seem to reach critical mass too early.
Just imagine the whole time after the 18th I was replaced by a cranky robot with a rusty shoulder, and then by Auntie Kate as I visited my grandparents and brother and sister-in-law and nephews.
Anyhow, I got home yesterday afternoon. I always have the most ambitious plans for New Year’s Day, where I clean up both metaphorically and physically. Instead I have spent the entire day playing World of Warcraft or watching World of Warcraft being played, eating, making a mess, and I also managed to fit in a 2.5 hour nap on the couch.
I do have some resolutions and tasks for this year. Some are really scary, some are just things I would like to do. These are in no particular order.
- Start trying to have a baby.
- Have a baby.
- Get a physical.
- Get my shoulder fixed.
- Finish the basement so I can have a study.
- Re-paint the spare bedroom.
- Re-paint the living/dining room.
- Get a dishwasher installed, and a new countertop, drawer pulls, flooring and fridge in the kitchen.
- Get the upstairs bathroom taps replaced.
- Lift weights 3 times a week.
- Start riding my bike to work as soon as the snow thaws.
- Stop procrastinating at work so I don’t have to do massive catchup sessions.
- Stretch every night before bed.
- Floss every day.
- Get my full driver’s license.
- Keep my booklog updated.
- Read more books this year than last year.
- Update this journal more often.
- Visit all my friends at least once this year.
