Book: The Warslayer

June 3rd 2004

The Warslayer, by Rosemary Edghill.

This book tickled my fancy as I was browsing the Baen Free Library which is an amazing collection of new books from Baen in electronic format. I have found several authors through this site, and have bought a few books in paperback after reading them on my Palm. I think that Eric Flint has a really good sense of the difference between electronic format and paper format, and that it is no big deal to publish free books in electronic format, because it encourages people to buy hard copies! Yay!

Anyhow, this book piqued my interest, because it had a main character who is an actress in a show called The Incredibly True Adventures of Vixen the Slayer, which says to me that Edghill has either read up or is a fan of Xena and Buffy! Glory (a.k.a. Vixen) is an Aussie gymnast turned “actor” who ends up in another universe when some wizards mistake her for the character she plays on tv.

This is fluff, but enjoyable fluff all the same. At the back there is even a collection of episode guides for the first season of the show. Highly amusing, and a good way to while away an afternoon.
