Book: Fortress of Eagles

Fortress of Eagles, by C.J. Cherryh.

This is the continuation of Fortress in the Eye of Time. Tristen, the gray-eyed youth with strange powers, a Shaping, continues his adventures with the newly crowned King Cefwyn. Cefwyn is trying to unify the kingdom of Ylesuin after discovering how badly his father’s reign had fallen, and he is also trying to marry Ninevrise, the Lady Regent of the historically enemy kingdom of Elwynor. Tristen is seen by the powerful barons of Ylesuin as being evil, an unnatural creature with a hold on the King. So he is told to lie low and not stir things up. Tristen has found some answers about the riddle of who he may be, but more and more he is certain he does not want to know who he was.

This book moved more quickly than the first one, but I find myself somewhat annoyed with the writing style. Tell me what is happening! Explain things in more detail! More story!
